Opening 8.30am - 4pm from September 2023
I have been involved in the Barrowby Pre-School for many years, my eldest daughter attended in 2004, I became a committee member and volunteered in the Pre-School. I completed Level 2 & 3 in Pre-School Practice before starting a Foundation Degree in Children, Families and Community Health, during this time I became a member of staff in the Pre-School. I left in 2011 to widen my knowledge and experience and worked within the Children’s Centre’s in South Kesteven, during which time I completed the BA (Hons) in Education (Early Years). I returned to Barrowby Pre-School as Manager in November 2015 as maternity cover, 3 weeks after starting the Pre-School was inspected by Ofsted for which we received a ‘GOOD’ grading. On the managers return from maternity leave in September 2016 I once again went to work in Children’s Centres this time in Nottinghamshire. This has given me a broad experience of supporting families, training volunteers, supporting staff development and safeguarding. I have completed the Advanced Level 3 Forest School Leaders qualification and Master’s in Early Years Education. I am excited to be back managing the Pre-School this time as a permanent Manager. I look forward to using the knowledge and experience I have gained to develop the Pre-School and to bring out the best in the staff team and your child.
I have been working at Barrowby Pre-School since June 2013 where I am a key person and also Deputy Manager. I enjoy my job very much and enjoy working with children of all ages. I have just completed a Level 5 Diploma in Children and Early Years Services and the eLklan speech and language course. I am the SENDCo with in the setting. I am married with 2 children & 2 grandchildren, who I adore and love very much.
I am among the first cohort to complete the New Level 3 Special Educational Needs qualification and am now part of a very select national group of Early Years SENCos to have this Cache awarded qualification.
I have been working in the Pre-School since May 2014. I live in Grantham and have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. I have always been interested in working with children and started out by helping in the nursery my eldest child had attended before we moved to Grantham. I continued helping in the nursery's and school settings as my other children grew while attending Grantham College and qualifying as a Learning Support Assistant.
I then worked at Huntingtower Primary School as a midday supervisor for a number of years, as well as a Learning Support Assistant and caring 1-1 for a child with additional needs. I continued studying and gained my NVQ3 in Child Care and Development. I was then offered a position as Learning Support at Grantham Church High School which I accepted before becoming a Cover Supervisor. I am currently working towards my degree in Early Years and Education.
For many years I was employed by ‘MENCAP’ caring for adults with learning disabilities. I left my job to have my son and chose to stop at home to look after him. He started Barrowby Pre-School when he was 2 ½ years old. I began volunteering at that time and from September 2004 I started my employment there as a relief member of staff.
Whilst at Preschool I worked hard to achieve an NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development as well as other associated courses. Ten years on and I am still working here, enjoying my time with the children and helping them prepare for their next steps into Primary School.
Sue delivers specialised sessions in Music & Makaton, and Sports for all to the children. These sessions, which Sue designed, are focused around providing experiences of different types of music, rhythm and learning to use Makaton; the sports sessions provide the children with different experiences of tennis, golf, football, table tennis and basic relaxation techniques.
My body might be 50 years old but my spirit is still very young and I enjoy life. I am married and have two teenage daughters. I have worked in childcare for the last 27 years. I have a diploma in National association of maternal and child welfare plus family and community care. Most of my working life has been with special needs children ranging from behaviour problems, Autism, ADHD and many other syndromes. I have also worked in mainstream primary school on 1-1 with children and has a teaching assistant to the reception class. Other works I have done is Tumble Tots and of course preschool children. I have been at Barrowby Pre-School for about 10 years working has a relief worker and I enjoy it very much.
Both my children attended Barrowby Pre-School and I joined the management committee. I have had an interest in the pre-school for many years and have been working as a relief member of staff for the past few years. I recently started the Early Years Educator course and am enjoying being able to put theory into practice. I love arts and crafts and particularly glitter.
Both my children attended Barrowby Pre-School, during that time I was a committee member. In August 2017 I achieved my NCFE cach level 2 certificate caring for children and young people. I came to volunteer at the Pre-School in 2022 and enjoyed every minute of it. I am also studying a DSE child development course. My passion is working with children to give them a happy and healthy start to their learning journey. I joined the staff team in January 2023 and look forward to be spending many more years with my Pre-School family.
